Programming for International Students
The Directorate of Global Relations and Promotion (DGRP) within the University Office of Global Programs (UOGP) develops and plans a variety of programs to support international students and their families from their initial arrival until graduation. Our programs range from cultural and social activities as well as educational and training workshops which provide students with the resources they need to succeed at Penn State.
The Explorers Program is designed to allow international students the opportunity to travel and explore cities outside of State College. This program gives international students a glimpse into many aspects of American life and history. In the past, students have visited location such as Washington, D.C., New York, Niagara Falls, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.

Every Thursday from 3:30 to 5:00 pm, the Global Programs Lounge (410 Boucke Building) is transformed into a cosmopolitan café as international and domestic students, faculty, and staff meet to enjoy conversation and fair trade organic coffees and tea. International student organizations often co-sponsor International Coffee Hour to share their culture through snacks and cultural displays. Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up and clean-up each Thursday.

UOGP works very closely with the International Student Council (ISC) to promote international student leadership at Penn State. ISC is the voice of nearly 4,500 international students at Penn State and serves as the umbrella organization for more than 50 international student organizations. The UOGP program coordinator serves as the adviser to ISC as well as a liaison to all international student organizations.
The University Office of Global Programs (UOGP) has limited funds available for registered student organizations interested in hosting a program or activity focusing on cultural heritage, awareness or internationalization. Special attention is given to programs that promote interaction between international and American students and educate the Penn State community on the diverse cultures represented by the student groups.
