CPFA Activities
2007-08

A Message from
Dr. Robert Lima, OIC, President of the
Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the
Fulbright Association
Welcome to the Homepage of our Central
Pennsylvania Chapter, which encompasses
an area west of Philadelphia toward the
outskirst of Pittsburgh. If you are a
Fulbrighter within this region, let us
know so that we may inform you directly
of events under our sponsorship.
I know you will find in these pages
numerous ideas for your participation in
the programs of the Fulbright
Association, both international and
national, as well as events sponsored by
this Chapter for the benefit of all
Fulbright Scholars and anyone interested
in international cooperation across many
disciplines.
In light of the horrific events of
September 11, 2001, which affected not
only Americans but also their guests
from other nations and good people
throughout the world, it is imperative
that we forge new bonds or enhance those
already in place to secure world peace
and the fundamental concept of mutual
respect between nations, peoples and
faiths. These are among the ideals of
the Fulbright Association and the goals
of its numerous programs.
We at the Central Pennsylvania Chapter
of the Fulbright Association welcome
your interest as evinced by your
visiting this Homepage. If you are
considering applying for a Fulbright,
contact our office. If you are the
recipient of a Fulbright, please avail
yourself of the many offerings on this
Homepage and let us know if we can
assist you in any way.

Membership is open to former Fulbright
grantees of any nationality and to those
who support the ideals of the Fulbright
program but are not themselves grantees.
Approximately 170 colleges,
universities, and international
organizations (including Penn State)
support the Fulbright Association as
institutional members.
The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of
the Fulbright Association (CPFA) is the
local chapter of the national
Fulbright Association. It is made up
of faculty and staff who are former
Fulbright recipients, who contribute
many volunteer hours and much talent in
support of the Fulbright program.
Activities include hospitality for
visiting Fulbright scholars and
students, and promotion of Fulbright
grants throughout Penn State and the
region. For current CPFA activities, see
the schedule above.
